Most Important Car Tip

January 8th, 2009

2008 was a tough year for many of us.  When it comes to you car that you rely on for the daily commute to and from work, you can’t cut corners.  We should all take care of our automobiles.  It could become unreliable transpotation and end up costing more out of your pocket to get it fixed.

Neglecting you car is the best way to ensure you DON’T get to where you need to be.

Take an hour, come by on of our locations and let us inspect your vehicle.  The inspection is useful because we can identify problems before they leave you stranded.  Our goal at central Kentucky’s largest Auto Repair and Transmission center is to make our customers aware of the issues on their car, let them know the importance and severity of each problem and let you budget based on the most important problems that need attention.

The bottom line is its less expensive to maintain a vehicle than to repair it.

The Big Three Bailout

December 19th, 2008

General Motors and Chrysler have been pledged 17.4 billion dollars in low interest loans from the US Government in what some are calling President George W. Bush’s parting legacy.

What does this mean for consumers looking to buy that 09 model SUV or crossover? Well, they may still be available to purchase, or finance. BUT - how many of us are already in over our heads with loans, mortgage payments and other “financed” products? Perhaps in 2009 we should consider our dilemma and put back buying that brad new auto and keep the one we still have on lease.

There is a lot to say about a new car. It smells great, looks great, drives great and makes us feel superior. If that is a commodity worth your extra dollars then there isn’t anything to be said. If you are in the dilemma I mentioned, maybe you should focus on better priorities. Hold onto your car or truck for a while longer and make sure you have it in tip top condition. When the time comes to get that new “off the lot” auto, the resell on yours will still be nice. It could be the difference in thousands of dollars.

Here are a few tips to help you stay on top of maintenance.
- Always get that check engine light looked at.
- Keep the oil and oil filter changed regularly.
- Make sure the belts are not worn out.
- Keep all your fluids topped off.
- Check the air pressure in your tires.
- Keep that air filter clean or change it regularly.

When it comes to maintenance that requires a little extra time and money, don’t put it off.
- Change your spark plugs and wires regularly.
- Keep your transmission fluid and coolant clean. Flush and replace regularly.
- Make sure you get those brakes changed when the first signs of wear show.

Many people hold onto their older automobiles, and it is especially important that these cars and trucks are taken good care of. Follow the tips and you should be in good shape.

It is that time of the year again, and our automobiles, more than ever, need out attention.

Don’t risk it this season, take care of your ride.  Everyone is finding ways to cut back on their spending, take it from the experts, DONT CUT BACK ON CAR CARE.

How you think of your car may determine how well you treat it.  If you see it as a mere conveyance, you may give it little thought.  If you consider it a proud possession, you probably will be more attentive.  But no matter how you relate to your vehicle, it is important to care for it in specific ways that will maintain its reliability, preserve its drivability and protect its resale value.

Visit one of our locations today and get that service or tune up you’ve been putting off.

It could very well be the difference between reliable transporation in the dead of winter and a broke down car parked in a lot with a huge repair bill.
